We have just submitted a paper to the Special Interest Group on Information Retrieval (SIGIR), "Mining Trail Logs To Determine the Visibility Of Navigational Hubs in Search Results."
The paper makes some very interesting reading! I don't want to give away the findings but we are very excited about the results.
The paper comes out of our collaboration with academia over the past year. If you're an academic who is interested in 'search trails' please contact us. There's much more research to be done!

Trials not Trails
The last seven days have been hellish. Our cluster is under attack by hackers from: Romania, Mexico and Costa Rica! Why? It's nothing personal, they just want to enslave our servers to join their "Bot Net" - for sending SPAM, DDOS attacks etc. Ah well.
"What does not kill us makes us stronger" and we have learnt many lessons!
I'm looking forward to getting back to coding Trexy version 2!

The first FAB for 2007
The first Flag and Bell for 2007 was a great success last night.
The pubs proved to be a good venue for the all new and regular FAB attendees to network and exchange ideas and various industry thoughts.
The quiz was a tricky one, ending in a three way tie breaker. The most challenging question was:
'What name did the Firefox project first use for their browser, which was publicly available for testing in September 2002'?
Stuck...the answer is phoenix.
Details for next month's can be found here.

BBC Backstage Interview
Just before Christmas I attended the BBC Backstage Christmas Party.
It was great to catch up with members from the flag-and-bell.com and london.pm.org.
While I was there I was interviewed about Trexy.
