Finding the right match

Nige and I are going to do our first day of interviews today. We are looking for a part-time person to join our small team to help with marketing and general office administration.

In addition to being able to do the job, we're hoping to find someone who is:
  • trustworthy
  • loves challenges who will meet and exceed our expectations
  • happy and easy to get along with
  • eager to learn and takes pride in their work
  • self-motivated with the ability to communicate confidently.
Fingers crossed.

The New Cycle of Search

Meg has re-mastered the draft "Cycle of Search" image so it's much clearer.

More Momentum

With my wireless wipeout last week and lots happening in my personal life I feel I've lost some momentum. This week we need to pick the pace back up. We need to do one more round of testing, fix the results pages, and prepare the website.

Wireless Wipeout

Recently I changed ISP - cheaper, faster etc. Sounds good in theory but in practice it's been a nightmare. My house is over 100 years old, yet the walls seem to come with wireless security built in - nothing gets through! For the last three days I've been wrestling with cables, drivers, wireless cards etc. I'm finally 'back on' but the connection is still not 100%. Aarrrghh ... I've got so much other work to do ... but I just have to remember to chill out and be patient ... one of my favourite sayings is, "we'll get there." Another great Aussie-ism is "no worries" and together they make for a powerful combination: "No worries ... We'll get there."

Where's that trail?

Greetings from Lipari!

Today I needed to find out the name and location of the 'secret' beach here in Lipari. I know I have already created a trail to find this information and went to search on 'All Trails' on Trexy to find what I am looking for. Unfortunately I couldn't access the website...so I had to re-build my trail by asking a number of locals where the secret beach is. And unfortunately my Italian is not that great...

A couple of minutes on Trexy and I would have found my answer.

Holiday

Meg is having a well earned holiday this week! So I'm minding the fort. Although Meg occasionally pops up on email from sunny Sicily. Fortunately our cluster is healthy and things are working well. This week I'm preparing for a final pre-BETA testing session. Fingers crossed we pass with flying colours.

Temporal Trails - Way Back When

Sometimes web pages disappear. Older trails often traverse pages that have long since gone. We need a way of preserving the pages of a trail. Fortunately we can enlist the help of "The Way Back When Machine" at http://archive.org. If a page no longer exists we link to the archived version of the page stored by The Way Back When Machine. Search engines like Google and Yahoo only index the most recent version of the page. Trexy enables you to search deeper into the past with the help of The Way Back When Machine!

London SES

The Search Engine Strategies (SES) Conference came to London last week and it was our turn to play host to our US partners.

Meg and I spoke with some of the organisers behind SES and we're looking forward to having our own booth at an upcoming show sometime this year. We're also planning our own "Pub Conference" for users of Trexy and Turbo10 so we can meet our users face to face.
